Francois Regis Leonard - 2024 No. 95 Cedar / Indian Rosewood Lattice 64 cm

Francois Regis Leonard - 2024 No. 95 Cedar / Indian Rosewood Lattice 64 cm

Overview

François Leonard has been building classical guitars for almost 20 years and lives and works in his workshop in Lorient, France. He had the opportunity to learn from many guitar builders in England and also worked in the Lakewood workshop in Germany. He received support from Dominique Field as an occasional mentor, so it is no surprise that the aesthetics and structural concept of his guitars are strongly influenced by French masters such as Daniel Friederich and Dominique Field.

This brand-new guitar, numbered 95, exemplifies the timeless elegance of a proven tone-wood combination: Cedar top and Indian rosewood back and sides. What sets this guitar apart, is its lattice bracing, a distinctive feature of this masterpiece that results in a soundboard of unparalleled reactivity, breathing life into each note and ensuring they swell with resonance and depth. The trebles resonate with profound amplitude, exuding a mature and harmonious timbre, pivotal in maintaining the genuine essence of the guitar.

Engaging with this instrument is a dialogue, a delicate dance between the performer and the guitar. Its vast dynamic range and diverse tonal palette allow for precise articulation of the artist’s vision, rendering a captivating rendition of every musical piece.

Francois Regis Leonard’s meticulous craftsmanship is evident in every detail, showcasing an artistry of this luthier. In summary, the 2024 Francois Regis Leonard No. 95 is not just an instrument but an experience—an impeccable blend of superior acoustics, dexterous playability, and artisanal perfection. For the guitarist who refuses to compromise on precision and execution, this creation represents the zenith of desirability.

  • Classical Guitars

The classical guitar, with its soft nylon strings and characteristic timbre, has become a symbol of chamber music, Spanish tradition, and concert repertoire. Its modern form was shaped by Antonio de Torres in the 19th century, setting the standard for the body, fan bracing, and the 65-centimeter scale length that are still used today. Instruments in this category open up a rich palette from the refined Romantic miniatures of Tárrega to the majestic concertos of Rodrigo. Here you will find guitars that preserve historical continuity and at the same time inspire new interpretations.
