Composed by Scott Joplin for piano, it was published in 1902. It was also adapted by Marvin Hamlisch in 1973 for use in the movie “The Sting”, for which he won the Oscar for Best Soundtrack. There are different arrangements of “The Entertainer“ for guitar, but similar to the original ones are not easy. If we keep only the first two themes and move the pitch in C major, you can get an easy version for the beginner classical guitar lessons. Since the Ragtime is a dance, it is important to maintain the steady pace of the typical alternating bass.
If you like blues and black music played with classical guitar, let me also suggest you “Delicate Blues“, that is a composition of mine. Thank you.
